Peer Training Films
One of the goals of RTA is to develop creative writing into performance pieces, both for stage and film.
A Lasting Impression: What You Need To Know About Prison Tattoos and Hepatitis-C was written and performed as a stage play in Fishkill Correctional Facility, then adapted and performed for film inside the prison. It is now used extensively as peer-delivered education throughout New York State prisons.
The second in the series, Starting Over, is an honest, funny and poignant play written and performed by prisoners in Woodbourne Correctional Facility. A strong and compelling piece of dramatic writing, it deals with family relationships and how they are affected by incarceration. The message is simple: it is possible and worthwhile to struggle through the complex issues and emotions involved in maintaining family ties.
Starting Over has been adapted for screen and will be filmed entirely inside prison.
