In Community

"Every person brings their individuality to the program. Somehow, it gets woven together to make this great mosaic at the end that has a piece of everybody in it."

RTA MEMBER, BEDFORD HILLS

Hundreds of RTA participants have been released from prison. They have had a remarkable record of accomplishment, from working in the trades to managing retail stores, as entrepreneurs, to finishing college and going on to Master's degrees.

Through their desire to give back to the community, many RTA alumni work in the social services - from direct service providers to policy-level positions. Their organizations are making a difference in gang prevention, substance abuse treatment and helping the formerly incarcerated reclaim their lives. An alumnus from our modern dance program teaches dance to at-risk boys.

Some RTA members DO go back to prison - not as prisoners, but as teachers.
