In addition to body awareness and movement intrinsic to theatre, RTA programs include modern dance and hip hop.

Dance requires control, focus and memorization. Ensemble dance develops non-verbal communication; at the same time, each individual expresses their own longing, hope, fear and joy.

It takes mad courage for men to dance in prison.  Participants in RTA's dance program have won over the population which fills the gym's bleachers at every performance. In talkbacks, the audience invariably expresses their genuine and unexpected admiration.

"I needed to prove to myself that I am no longer the man who came to prison, but rather a man who can overcome stereotypes, criticism and the courage to show a positive side of myself I rarely show."
